On Season 4, Episode 2 of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, Daniele had a lot to say about Yohan’s business.
First, the raw meat, sitting out without refrigeration in the open air for flies to land on, horrified her. Yohan was hurt, but many viewers could identify with this.
Then Daniele asked a series questions about his business. It wasn’t all adding up. It appeared that he was in debt to his butcher shop. But a close examination of Daniele’s finances raises many questions. It might also explain why Daniele is so determined about living
far from New York.Yohan Geronimo wanted Daniele to feel proud. This is his very own business.Unfortunately, what she saw was piles of meat sitting out in the open air, on top of a counter. And there were flies landing on the meat with very little interference.

Yohan seemed to not believe that this was a health concern. His wife told him that this was how Dominican Republic meat is sold. Daniele was baffled but it did help to clarify some things. The conversation quickly turned to the financial aspects of all this. Daniele had many questions and concerns. Yohan shared that he kept his books on a physical ledger, like a shopkeeper in
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
.

Daniele did not feel at ease to learn that her husband managed his business like she might run a lemonade stand. She used budgeting software on her computer to calculate Yohan’s earnings. His expenses were also calculated. He also pointed out that he had a second job. He felt that his wife was mocking him and judging him. Daniele understood that feeling and offered some emotional support. But she said that she wanted to know how feasible it would be for them to live there, especially if they had to “manifest” a child. Especially after New York became too darn expensive. From the start of the season, Daniele has been discussing how pricey New York has been for her.
She longs for the low cost of living that she has experienced while vacationing in the DR. Of course, she still wants to maintain an American standard of living. Yohan is still baffled by this decision.
She unilaterally changed her plans and demanded that they stay in the DR for longer than a year.

Starcasm to file to bring Daniele to the USA. She may never. Now
Starcasm-
reports Daniele’s financial problems from living in New York at high costs were worse than she thought.

In 2022 Daniele filed bankruptcy. It cost her more to live each month than she was earning. Yes, that includes the $3,475 in monthly rental expenses.
Daniele owed total financial liabilities to the tune of $224,584.
This is a huge debt that Chapter 7 bankruptcy (liquidation), allowed Daniele to eliminate and get a fresh start. Remember, bankruptcy is not in and of itself shameful, and exists to allow people to survive debt. The stigma that goes with bankruptcy, and the flattened credit score (remember, credit scores are inherently predatory and have only existed for a little over 30 years), sometimes prevent people from exploring it as an option.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzFG0Cdh8D8Fans wonder if Daniele’s bankruptcy filing will impact her ability to bring Yohan to the US on a spousal visa.(Presumably, she would need to find a sponsor for him. There have been many people who have become so poor that they have had to get help from family members to pay the visa application fees.
Of course, her husband will have to know about this financial situation. Maybe she will be able to remember that there are many places to live in the US if they decide to move. You can also store meat in refrigeration. Like, by law.
