Amy Madigan's supporting nomination for "Weapons" set the record for the longest gap between nominations for an actress, forty years after "Twice in a Lifetime." Behind the camera, costume designer Ruth E. Carter earned her fifth nomination, making her the most-nominated Black woman in Oscar history across all categories, per TheWrap's nominations coverage.

The season's honors have already begun. At the Governors Awards in November 2025, the Academy recognized Debbie Allen, Tom Cruise, Dolly Parton and production designer Wynn Thomas, per the Academy's June 2025 announcement.

For the styling industry, the March 15 carpet is the year's most consequential deadline. The record-nominated field guarantees one of the largest casts of nominees in recent memory, which means an unusually heavy coordination load for stylists managing ensembles, partners and presenting duties across a single evening. Everything since January 22 has been building toward that one walk, and the nominations morning itself already hinted at the scale of the night: a field this large means more first-time nominees than usual, which historically produces some of the carpet's most personal and least guarded styling choices.
